I am honored that my father who so loved Canarsie is being honored. When he married my Mither he embraced Canarsie as his own.
I hope that Ramon will contact me do that I can fill in some of the blanks in his bio. In addition my Dad was an attorney and not a physician.
Thanks again for honoring his memory.

Thanks again Ramon for a job well done and much appreciated. I knew Jim Haver. He and my father, Ed Bogen, worked together in the Lions Club and as part of the Rockaway Parkway Merchants Association. Jim represented McDonald's. I believe he was the overall manager of several restaurants. Great guy.

My family were one of Canarsie's first residents. The Votta family immigrated from Italy to Canarsie. Some of my best memories are from growing up there in the 60's and 70's. Ave L was amazing back then.

R. Martinez, site creator, Created the Canarsie History Museum in 1999 which was chartered by the New York State Department of Education and the N.Y. Board of Regents. He also wrote the 2009 book: Canarsie: the Real history behind Brooklyn and New York. In 2015 he created the first Canarsie film Documentary entitled: A Walk through Canarsie. The film is free online on YouTube with over 7,000 views. In 2017 Martinez created the follow up mini-documentary film entitled: The 100 hotels of Canarsie. This film is also free on YouTube.
